Why do it?

Yeşil Bursa, 'green Bursa', is an old nickname the city is still trying to live up to, and three parks do most of the work. Kültürpark, at Altıparmak on the edge of Çekirge, is the classic city park — forty hectares of old trees, ponds, tea gardens, the open-air theatre where summer concerts happen, and the archaeology museum. Hüdavendigar Kent Parkı, west of Çekirge along the Nilüfer stream, is the biggest green space in the city: long paths, sports fields, canoeing on the stream. And the Botanik Park in Soğanlı, laid out in 1998, is the quiet one — themed gardens, a small zoo, bike paths. Rising over the Kent Parkı is the crocodile-shaped stadium where Bursaspor plays.

The Smileys Take

Start with Kültürpark on a weekday evening — it's where the center goes to walk, and the tea gardens are where you end up. Save Hüdavendigar for a run or a Sunday picnic with a group; it's big enough to feel like leaving town. And if you want to meet Bursa at full volume, go to a Bursaspor match: the club won the 2. Lig in 2025–26 and is back in the 1. Lig for 2026–27, the green-and-white crowd is the city's most loyal, and the stadium is next to the park. A match, then a walk along the stream — that's a proper Bursa Saturday.
