Why do it?
Sığacık is the harbor village of Seferihisar — Turkey's first official Cittaslow ('slow city') — and its Sunday market is the slow-food idea made real: village producers selling their own olive oil, cheese, herbs and gözleme in the lanes inside the old castle walls. Add a marina, a small beach nearby and the ruins of ancient Teos down the road, and it's one of the most satisfying half-days within reach of the city.

Go early — the market is at its best in the morning, and breakfast grazed stall by stall inside the walls beats any café version. Buy the olive oil; you'll use it. In warm months make it a full day with a swim at Akkum or a walk out to Teos. This is the Izmir region running at its proper speed.
