The waterfall that falls into the sea
At the Lara cliffs, the Düden river simply leaps off the edge into the Mediterranean.
Why do it?
The Lower Düden waterfall is one of the strangest, best free sights in Turkey: a full river reaches the edge of the Lara cliffs and drops straight into the open sea, spray drifting over the water. The cliff-top park beside it is a classic local picnic and tea spot, and the plume is visible from boats out on the gulf. Ten minutes from the Lara beach neighborhoods, and most tourists never learn it exists.

See it twice: once from the cliff-top park at golden hour with a çay, and once from the water — the harbor excursion boats from Kaleiçi pass right under it, and from sea level it's genuinely dramatic. Pair the park visit with an evening on Lara's beach side. The flow varies with the season, but the cliff-edge setting never disappoints.
