Evenings on the Konyaaltı promenade

A long pebble beach with mountains rising straight out of the sea — and the city's after-work swim ritual.

Why do it?

Konyaaltı is the beach Antalya actually uses: kilometres of pebble shore and a redesigned promenade running west from the cliffs, with the Beydağları standing straight up out of the sea ahead of you. On summer evenings half the city is here — swimming after work, walking, picnicking on the grass strips. The difference between living in Antalya and visiting is exactly this: the sea stops being an excursion and becomes part of the daily routine.

The Smileys Take

Come at the end of the day, not the middle — the evening swim-and-walk is the local rhythm, and the water stays swimmable far longer into autumn than you'd expect. It's pebbles, not sand, so swim shoes save your feet. The western stretches toward Liman and Hurma are calmer than the Beach Park end. Do this once and you'll understand why people move here.

The Smileys community does things like this every week — organized events, spontaneous hangouts, and visitors looking for company.
