Down the coast past Kemer, Phaselis is the day trip that feels illegal: an ancient trading city on a pine-covered peninsula, its aqueduct and colonnaded street running between three bays — and you're allowed to swim in them. Shade from the pines, ruins at the waterline, mountains behind. It's the distilled promise of this coast: antiquity and the sea in the same hour, under an hour from the city.

In high summer go early — tour boats arrive late morning and the magic thins — or better, go on a warm May or October day when the water's still good and the bays are quiet. Bring everything: it's a protected site among trees, not a beach club, which is exactly why we love it. Swimming off a two-thousand-year-old harbor mole does not get old. Kemer town works for a late lunch on the way back.
