Quick summary

Find veterinary clinics, emergency animal hospitals, pet sitters, boarding services and municipal animal-care resources in Istanbul.

This is a companion to our guide to pet ownership in Istanbul. We'd rather list a few places we could check than a long list we couldn't, so it will grow as we confirm more. If something is wrong, or a place you trust is missing, please tell us.

Emergency Veterinary Care

"Open 24 hours" doesn't mean every service is available overnight. Staffing, surgeons, and scanners can all differ after hours. Call on your way, describe the problem, and ask whether a vet is on site now and whether they can treat it.

Listed as 24-hour, not yet confirmed

Google Maps shows these as open 24 hours, but we haven't been able to confirm that with the clinic. Open the map listing for the current number, and call first.

English-Speaking Veterinarians

We haven't yet had a clinic confirm English support directly, so we aren't listing any as English-speaking. Customers writing public reviews have mentioned English at Vetmedica Üsküdar, Heka in Beşiktaş, and Sigma Vet in Şişli, which makes them a reasonable first call. Ask who speaks English and whether they'll be there when you visit. A translation app can help with the rest, and a WhatsApp message in Turkish often gets a quick reply.

Pet Boarding and Sitters

Neşeli Pet Otel (dogs and cats, plus dog daycare)
Yavuz Selim Mah., Kamelya Sok. No:2, Beykoz
Phone: +90 541 342 06 14
Website · Google Maps
Describes itself as cage-free, with separate garden groups by size.

Keyifli Patim (small-breed dogs)
Küçükbakkalköy, Ataşehir
Phone: +90 542 550 64 57
Website · Google Maps
Describes itself as a cage-free, home-style hotel.

İstanbul Kedi Oteli (cats)
Etiler, Beşiktaş
Phone: +90 538 274 77 94
Website · Google Maps
Requires up-to-date vaccinations and offers pet taxi pickup.

Home-visiting sitters: We haven't confirmed one we can list yet. Your vet and local neighborhood groups are usually the best place to start. Meet any sitter first, and ask for references.

Municipal and Official Services

Municipal veterinary teams focus mainly on street animals and public health. Don't expect them to provide routine care for your own pet.

ALO 153 (İBB Solution Center)
Call 153, or +90 212 153 00 00 from outside Istanbul or if the short code won't connect. WhatsApp: +90 552 153 00 34. Online form.
English is available. Use it for reporting an injured street animal or a municipal problem. It can't give veterinary advice or guarantee a fast response.

İBB Veterinary Services
Runs municipal shelters and treatment units for ownerless animals, and has adoption information.

District veterinary departments
These handle local reports, often in office hours:

Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry
Bağdat Cad. No:307-309, Erenköy, Kadıköy. Phone: +90 216 468 21 00. The Ministry's national line is 180.
Use it for PETVET and identification questions, and export paperwork. It can't treat your animal.

Istanbul Airport Veterinary Border Office
Phone: +90 212 471 42 45. Email: istanbul.vskn@tarimorman.gov.tr
Use it for questions on bringing a pet in through the airport.

Adoption and Animal Welfare

SemtPati
İBB's adoption app lists animals from municipal shelters. There's also an online application.

District adoption
Kadıköy and Şişli both have adoption pages. Ask for the animal's PETVET registration and passport, and ask what vaccinations and sterilization have been done.

HAYTAP (Animal Rights Federation)
Email: bilgi@haytap.org. Phone: +90 212 356 12 59.
It's an advocacy federation, not an emergency service. For reports, it directs people to 112 and the Interior Ministry's HAYDİ app.

Pet Supplies

Your vet is the right route for prescription diets and medication, and many clinics also sell food and accessories. For everyday shopping, including carriers and travel gear, these Turkish online shops are currently operating:

  • Petlebi: food and accessories, including veterinary diet ranges

  • Petzzshop: food and accessories

  • Animal Park: a Kadıköy clinic with a pet shop

If you're using a carrier on a plane, check the airline's size limits before you buy.

Listings last checked: November 5, 2026. We checked these online and have not yet phoned them, so call before you travel. Being listed isn't a recommendation.
