What does distance do to our relationships, our memories and our sense of belonging? These are the questions behind Across the Pond, the latest album by Canadian dream-pop project Ghostly Kisses.

Released in August 2026, the record marks a new chapter for singer Margaux Sauvé and composer and musician Louis-Étienne Santais. On Friday, 20 November, the Québec City-based duo bring it to Paribu Art in Terminal Kadıköy.

If you are new to them, expect Sauvé’s voice over understated electronics, delicate melodies and orchestral arrangements. If you already know them, this is a return: they have played Istanbul several times, most recently at Zorlu PSM in October 2024.

From Québec to an International Audience

Ghostly Kisses began as the musical project of Margaux Sauvé. With a background in classical violin, which she started playing at the age of five, Sauvé brings a strong musical foundation to her songwriting.

The name Ghostly Kisses was inspired by William Faulkner’s poem “Une ballade des dames perdues.” It reflects the delicate and slightly otherworldly character that has become part of the project’s musical identity.

The project developed into a creative partnership with Louis-Étienne Santais. Together, they have shaped a sound that combines Sauvé’s expressive voice with electronic production, piano and orchestral textures.

They have since toured widely, from North America and Europe to Asia and the Middle East.

Rather than relying on conventional pop structures, their songs often develop gradually, allowing melodies and arrangements to build their own momentum.

Three Albums, Three Chapters

Their debut album, Heaven, Wait, came out in 2022.

In 2024, they followed it with Darkroom, a record built on an unusual project called the “Box of Secrets.” After touring their debut, the duo invited fans to share personal stories anonymously, and those accounts became the starting point for the album’s songs, connecting individual experiences with emotions shared across different lives and cultures.

Across the Pond turns inward. Written over years of travel and touring, it explores distance in several forms: physical, emotional and personal. Its themes include separation, longing, relationships, home and the passage of time.

If you have not listened to the project before the concert, these two tracks provide a useful introduction:

  • “Heaven, Wait”: the title track of their debut album, and a gentle introduction to their sound and Sauvé’s vocals.

  • “Empty Note”: an early song from their first EP, What You See, and a good example of their approach to melody and emotional songwriting.

For a sense of their latest direction, explore Across the Pond in full, starting with “Ordinary, Extraordinary,” one of the singles released ahead of the album. It shows how their sound and songwriting have developed.

What to Expect in Istanbul

Ghostly Kisses are not a conventional high-energy concert act. Their appeal lies in musical detail, expressive vocals and carefully constructed arrangements. The songs have a cinematic character, although their appeal ultimately rests on the songwriting rather than spectacle.

Fans of London Grammar may find some common ground: Sauvé has said she first learned to sing by imitating the band’s Hannah Reid, although Ghostly Kisses have their own identity.

The exact Istanbul setlist and live arrangements have not been announced, so the best approach is to discover the recordings beforehand and experience the performance as it unfolds.

Before the Night

Give Across the Pond a listen beforehand. The songs build slowly and reward close attention, which suits a show where phones stay in pockets.
